For our next review we decided to venture back to Deptford, home of so many great bars and restaurants, and this latest one was no exception. Nestled in the arches near Deptford station, Buster Mantis is a Scandi style minimalist cocktail bar with a subtle Jamaican twist, a great place for after work drinks or a weekend session.
They have a great cocktail menu and we tried several; my favourite was the rum punch. You don’t see punch on a lot of menus and I am a huge fan so that was my first drink! Also noteworthy were the lychee mojito and the Kukoomba. The super duper malt was an interesting drink but a bit extra for me, I don’t usually like my cocktails to have the consistency of a pint of guiness! They also serve brews from my favourite brewery Brick, which is a sign of good taste for me!
This place has a really chilled vibe with low lighting from industrial lamps and great music playing. I heard they do live music too but unfortunately there was nothing on the night we were there.
They do a food menu also, with Jamaican food cooked on their charcoal grill. We only tried the fried plantain as we were heading out to dinner later but the plantain was so good we’ll definitely be coming back to try the rest of the food!
All in all this is a fantastic venue and we definitely recommend you visit for a drink on your next night out!
