Smoky Whiskey and Peppercorn Steak Sauce

Recipe by Chris.
This is a delicious steak sauce which goes perfectly with a sirloin steak (or any steak for that matter!). The smoky whiskey gives the sauce an incredible flavour which really compliments the meat. I use my favourite whiskey, Laphraoig, which has a lovely peaty smoky flavour that works perfectly with the sauce. If you can’t get your hands on a bottle of Laphraoig then use whatever whiskey or Brandy you have to hand, it should still taste great! I’m not going to say how to cook the perfect steak, that is for another blog post!
2 garlic cloves, peeled and finely chopped
1 teaspoon rapeseed oil
25g butter
300ml double cream
1 teaspoon red peppercorns
Salt to taste
1 shot of a smoky single malt, like Laphraoig
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cooking Time: 10 minutes
Serves: 2 People
Instructions
Add the oil and butter to a small pan and heat on a medium heat until the butter melts.
Add the garlic and peppercorns and fry for about a minute.
Add the whiskey and cream and cook for 4-5 minutes. Give it a stir every 30 seconds or so and try not to overcook it. It should thicken up a bit but not too much.
Add the salt, stir through and serve with a delicious perfectly cooked steak!
