*Update* As we ease out of Lockdown 3 Wanderlust has opened up their First Class Lounge in the form of an outdoor courtyard. This total sun trap has seating for about 30 people available to walk-ins with no bookings required. We have been a few times since it has opened and have never had any trouble getting a table. The space is very child friendly, with plenty of space for buggies and highchairs so our little lockdown baby can get used to the cosmopolitain lifestyle she has been missing out on!
Now to work my way through the menu.....

Opening a cafe in lockdown is a pretty brave move, but it’s one that has seemed to pay off for the new eatery on Verdent Lane. Specialising in bagels and waffles, there has been a steady stream of people queuing to try their food selection from all over the world.
The brightly coloured kitch interior filled with travel guidebooks and memorabilia looks like a great place to sit and have coffee and cake, it’s just a pity it’s takeaway only while we’re in lockdown. Being on maternity leave, I can’t wait for the chance to have a seat after a long walk with the pram to treat myself to a twisted hot chocolate and a cake from their extensive collection. The experience has been slightly less relaxing as I push the buggy with one hand while trying not to spill my hot chocolate and working out how to get a piece of their delicious Brookie (half brownie, half cookie) into my mouth.
A great development is Wanderlust being available on Just Eats. Their waffles, bagels and panini’s are available for breakfast, lunch and dinner on the weekends. I ordered the Naples panini (salami, pesto, mozzarella and basil) and the Oxford Waffle (strawberries, whipped cream, meringue and strawberry sauce). I’d highly recommend both and the order arrived within 30 minutes. I previously tried the Zurich sweet waffle (chocolate and caramel sauce with brownie chunks) as well, which was a perfect afternoon pick me up.
There are so many more items to try on the menu, with each one coming from somewhere around the world. The savoury waffles sound great, but I haven’t got to them yet as I find it impossible to go past the sweet ones. I’m not quite sure if it’s appropriate to have a savoury and sweet waffle in one sitting. Maybe I need to try it and see!
I can’t wait for lockdown to be over, so we can enjoy the cafe interiors as well as the food. The staff are all super lovely and the sweet treats are all locally made. What a great addition to the local Catford area!
